Joensuun Perhokalastajat ry’s members between the fly-fishing competition were in the Lieksa’s Ruunaa 27.-28.8.2011.

First was Jari Pitkänen, second was Kalle Rautiainen and third was Sami Tirronen. Participants was 22, and total catch was 22 kg. Congratulations to the winners!

Scotland’s rugged and massive landscapes are beautiful, no doubt. A good cross-section of whiskey and bagpipes country may be traveling by train. So we did. It was really easy and convenient. By train trips we had a unique and memorable overview of Scotland’s towns, cities, nature, scenery, culture and people. We bought train tickets (British Rail) beforehand from the Internet. “BritRail pass” was easy way, hop on and off the trains as we wish. Check the detailed rail map.

All hotels we reserved beforehand also from the Internet. We used booking.com and hotels.com.

Fish Pedicure. Fantastic! We tried it in Edinburgh (in St. James Shopping Centre). Small Garra Rufa fishes nibble of our feet. Dead tissue were lost in mouths. Not hurt, just tickled. The fish have no teeth so the treatment works by them gently nibbling away at the dry skin. 15-minute “Fish Foot Spa” paid £ 10. We love this. Afterward, the legs felt very lightweight nature. We love Appyfeet. It was perfect pedicure.

I can recommend a tour in Scotland very warmly.

Trout and grayling will increase naturally in many rapids in the Vaikko-river. The river of Vaikko water route consists of three parts. The Vaikko-river route the headwaters is in North Karelia and it ending to the Juuka’s Kaavi. The Vaikko-river is about 50 km long. The first third is of the uninhabited wilderness and the river is natural state. The middle section has 19 river rapids, some of which provide challenges for even the most experienced to fisherman. We went to the river rapids Rakkine.
